After weeks and weeks trying to do it, we could last week-end climb the Huayna Potosí, my first mountain over 6000 m. We went a group of 6 Quebecers, 1 Acadian (the guy that live in my building with which I do mountain) and 2 Bolivian’s friend. Also, what was cool is that we went with the travel agency of a friend that I met during the Silluntinkara treck and that manage the shelters in the mountain. Also, as he came with us to guide us, we had a really personally treck and had the chance to do ski. So, the Huayna Potosí is one of the easiest 6000 m to do. It’s for that reason that a lot of tourists climb it every year. But even if it’s more accessible you really feel the lake of oxygen. Myself I didn’t have problem since I’m use to climb for weeks but some of the group felt it and 3 persons didn’t get to the top. During all the treck and at the top the view were really impressive. A incredible experience that I want to duplicate ‘coz I couldn’t get to the top by the trail that I wanted : a 200 m wall of 60é70 degrees that my partner on the rope couldn’t do it ‘coz he was to tired.
